ACC Regents Receive Audit Results

Alvin Community College received high marks in fiscal responsibility according to a recent audit delivered to the college board of regents meeting on January 11.

The auditing firm, Belt, Harris and Pechacek issued an unmodified opinion of the college鈥檚 financial statements for the 2022-23 fiscal year.

鈥淲e鈥檝e given the college the highest level of assurance we can give you on the college鈥檚 finances,鈥 said Ben Cohen, senior manager with the firm.

According to the audit, the college鈥檚 net position is at $20.59 million, which is an increase from the $13.64 million previous fiscal year. The regents voted unanimously to transfer $3.16 million from the college鈥檚 fund balance to institutional reserve, which represents enough funding for the college鈥檚 operations for six months.

鈥淚t is a good spot to be in,鈥 Cohen said. 鈥淭hese are all good signs that the college is doing well financially.鈥
